Some expansion slots utilize more power than others. This holds true when in a state of suspend as well.

- Framework Laptop 13 AMD Ryzen 7040 Series (Slots 1 and 3 as shown on the Expansion Card Functionality article)

- Framework Laptop 16 (Slots 1 and 4 as shown on the Expansion Card Functionality article)

For those slots, you will see the biggest power draw with HDMI or USB-A inserted into those ports and placed into a suspend state. DisplayPort is a bit better on power draw, whereas USB-C is passive and is the best recommendation if you plan on leaving your laptop in a state of suspend without being attached to power. 

Recommendations for the higher power draw expansion slots: 

- USB-C only for best results with the least amount of power draw.

- DisplayPort in one slot only. USB-C in the other higher power draw slot.

NOTE: If you are attached to power, this is a non-issue. But when running from the battery for active use or running from the battery during suspend, you will want to make sure to follow this guide for the best battery performance.
