Installing Windows 11 on 12th Generation Intel Core with Intel AX201 WiFi Module.
July 20 2022 8:15pmIf you are installing Windows 11 on our Framework Laptop (12th Gen Intel Core) and you are using the Intel AX201 WiFi Card, there are some additional steps to enable this card during Windows installation. The Framework Laptop (12th Gen Intel Core) ships with the AX210 WiFi card which does not require these steps. These steps would likely be required if reusing the WiFi card from a prebuilt Framework Laptop (11th Gen Intel Core) when updating to a 12th Generation Intel Core Mainboard and reinstalling Windows 11.
Download the latest Intel WiFi drivers from here.
Unzip the driver download. Copy the files into the root of a USB drive.
Start the Windows installation process following our guide.
At the step where the installation reboots and you arrive on a screen that states “Is this the right country or region”, press Shift + fn + F10 to open up the command prompt.
Insert the USB drive that you copied the WiFi drivers onto.
Type “pnputil /add-driver d:\*.inf” and press enter.
Type “pnputil /scan-devices" and press enter.
Type “shutdown /r" and press enter, letting the system reboot.
After the system reboots, it will start back at the “Is this the right country or region” screen, and you can proceed with the rest of Windows installation process.
