## Windows 11

In Windows 11, fingerprint login is set up in the "Sign-in Options" in Windows Settings.

If the option for "Windows Hello Fingerprint" says "This option is currently unavailable", make sure you've installed the [Framework Laptop Driver Bundle](https://knowledgebase.frame.work/en_us/how-do-i-download-drivers-for-my-framework-laptop-SyHOJGwCu).

If you've installed drivers already but are finding that the fingerprint reader isn't working after an OS reinstall or hardware change, you may need to reset the fingerprint reader database using the instructions below:

*   Click on the search button in the Taskbar and type “Services”
    
*   Scroll down and right click on Windows Biometric Service, and click Stop
    
*   Click on the search button in the Taskbar and type “File Explorer” 
    
*   Navigate to “C:\\Windows\\System32\\WinBioDatabase” 
    
    1.  Click on This PC on the left hand side of the Window
        
    2.  Double click on Windows (C:) under Devices and drives
        
    3.  Double click on the Windows folder
        
    4.  Scroll down and double click on the System32 Folder
        
    5.  Scroll down and double click on WinBioDatabase
        
*   Select all files and press shift+del, then confirm deletion
    
*   Click on the search button in the Taskbar and type “Services”
    
*   Scroll down and right click on Windows Biometric Service, and click Start
    
*   You can now re-enroll your fingerprints in the “Sign-in options” in Windows.
    
    1.  Click on the search button in the Taskbar and type “Sign-in options”
        
    2.  Click on Windows Hello Fingerprint
        
    3.  Click Add Another
        
    4.  Click Get Started
        
    5.  Enter your PIN
        
    6.  Follow the prompts on the screen
        

## Linux

The fingerprint reader is supported in Linux by libfprint since version 1.92.0 (_June 30, 2021_). Any recently released distribution is updated to this version, but it may need to be manually installed.
